Dive White, the PADI five star dive centre based in Whakatane, runs regular trips out to White Island, a marine reserve and active volcano.

While White Island is the jewel in the crown of diving in the Bay of Plenty, there are plenty of other diving destinations here to enable you to get your regular SCUBA fix. The recent sinking of the M.V Boston Seafire off Whakatane provides an easily accessible wreck dive, while along the Opotiki coastline the underwater hunter will easily come back with a bag full of crayfish (lobster) for the dinner table.
